Brief Intro of ZMU

Zunyi Medical University (ZMU) is a medical-oriented teaching and research medical university supported by multiple discipline.It has a complete talent training system for undergraduate, postgraduate, as well as doctoral degrees. The university currently consists of three campuses: Xinpu Campus, Dalian Road Campus, and Zhuhai Campus, covering an area of 2515 acres with a building area of 780,000 square meters in total. The physical books collection at ZMU exceeds 2.04 million volumes, and the electronic collection exceeds 1.33 million volumes. The university has more than 26,000 full-time students, 10,559 faculty and medical staff, including 485 senior personnel and 1,219 mid-level personnel. It has 29 teaching departments, five directly affiliated hospitals, and six non-directly affiliated hospitals. The affiliated hospitals have six national key clinical specialties and three sub-centers of the National Clinical Research Center.

Undergraduate education at ZMU covers seven disciplinary categories, including medicine, science, engineering, education, management, literature, and law, with 34 undergraduate majors. There are eight nationally first-class undergraduate majors, four nationally first-class undergraduate courses, three national high-quality courses, three national virtual simulation experimental projects, and four national-level teaching platforms. In 2020, the "Nanshan Class" was established to promote the comprehensive reform of the clinical medicine major and cultivate outstanding medical talents through the "Comprehensive Reform of Clinical Medicine Nanshan Class" program 2.0. Graduate education at ZMU includes four disciplinary categories: medicine, science, engineering, and law. There is a doctoral degree authorized in clinical medicine, eight master's degree programs in first-level disciplines, 43 master's degree programs in second-level disciplines, and six professional master's degree programs. Pharmacology is a national key (cultivating) discipline, and clinical medicine, pharmacology, and toxicology rank among the top 1% globally according to ESI.

ZMU has 61 scientific research platforms at various levels. In the past five years, it has undertaken 395 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, seven projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation, won one second-class prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and received the He Liang He Li Fund Scientific and Technological Innovation Award and the "Top Ten Scientific and Technological Innovation Achievements" of Guizhou Province in 2022.

The university attaches great importance to international exchanges, cooperation, and international education. It has conducted in-depth cooperation with high-level universities both domestically and internationally, such as Zhejiang University, Macau University of Science and Technology, the University of Western Australia, the University of Verona in Italy, and the Curie Institute in France. In 2015, the International Education College (Guizhou-ASEAN Medical Education College) was established to actively develop education of international students. ZMU has joined the China-ASEAN University Medical Education Alliance, the South Asia Southeast Asia Medical Education and Health Alliance, the China Smart Education Alliance, and its international influence continues to grow.
